Wood furniture can be a beautiful background for portraits. Wood or upholstered furniture can:

-       Support a baby.

-       Form a solid background

-       Emphasize the lines of perspective.

-       Preserve the memory of a special heirloom.

Colorful rubber balls, bubble baths, sandy beaches, autumn leaves… In a child’s life, there are many opportunities for a total immersion.

If you decide to focus on your child’s face in such context, here are some golden rules to follow:

-       Get in close.

-       Water and sand have reflective properties that brighten photos.

-       If you are using a flash camera, put your finger in front of the bulb to keep light skin from getting washed out.

Shoot from Behind

Photos don’t always have to show faces to be revealing. Body language alone conveys a lot. If you opt to take a photo of your child from behind, here are some tips:

-       Get down to your subjects’ level even if it means to kneel down.

-       To maintain one center of interest, make sure that multiple subjects make physical contacts.

-       Frame the photo horizontally to capture the surroundings.

-       Add some color accents in the photo to lead the viewer’s eye.
